For us, the least impressive part of the promising OPPO A83's specs are its back and front cameras. On paper, its 13MP primary shooter and 8MP selfie camera is a bit below the competition.

But as we all know, the size of megapixels is not everything when it comes to mobile photography.

8MP f/2.2 |
Camera optimization is also very important. OPPO knows how to properly tune camera sensors. There's also a chance that the camera sensors they used are better than some of the regular 13MP and 8MP sensors.
In addition, OPPO claimed that the 8MP f/2.2 selfie camera of this handset is also A.I. enhanced for natural looking selfies.
Let's see!

Initial results are very surprising! It is simply much better than what we expected! Photos taken from both the main and selfie cameras are promising.
At the back, the main camera has pretty good focus and shooting speed even in lowlight. Details are mostly sharp as well. Colors are a bit punchier (slightly saturated) and has good exposure. The 2x digital zoom is quite decent too. Lowlight performance is accpetable.
For selfies, I'm very impressed personally! This can compete with its bigger brothers even if it only has an 8MP sensor. The portrait selfie I took with it is one of the best I've seen. It is wide in angle as well.
Interesting!
