Luckily, we were able to borrow the Gen 1 prototype of the Cloudfone Excite Prime 2 Pro in our trip to Boracay to test its initial camera performance.

1. Auto HDR - It automatically detects the scene whether it needs the help of HDR to enhance detail and exposure of your shot or not. This mode is ideal for shooting in lowlight and backlit scenes. It could also help in landscapes and portraits in sunlight.

2. 2x optical zoom - Just like the iPhone 7 Plus, the CEP 2 Pro has 2x optical zoom or telephoto mode. It can zoom up to 2x without losing much details.

3. Beauty mode - What we like here is the beauty mode works for both the main camera and the selfie camera. It has 3 different levels of beautification. Moreover, it can make your face and eyes smaller or bigger.

4. Portrait mode - Portrait mode works for both the main camera and selfie camera. It allows users to adjust how much they want to blur the background of their subject. This is great for those who wanted to emphasize the focus on the subject better and mimic bokeh effect.

5. Night mode - The night mode is my personal favorite. It allows you to shoot great images in the dark that's rich in colors and fine in details even automatically. Yes, even if you don't know how to use the manual camera.

Note: It also has a pro camera mode w/ manual focus and metering, super pixel, time-lapse, and up to 1080p video recording.
By far, the results we got using the soon-to-be available Cloudfone Excite Prime 2 are promising even for the Gen 1 prototype device. It delivered mostly great results without much noise and nice and colors. Even in lowlight, camera performance is quite fine.
There are still room for improvements, but the portrait mode for both the main and selfie cameras can produce decent background blurs. Its edges are far from crappy compared w/ other budget dual cameras we tested in the past.
The night mode is amazing for lowlight photography if you have steady hands.
The 2x optical zoom really works too!
Imagine what its final version can do.
