Why? Samsung explained that its for the consistency and unification of their product portfolio. As we all know the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is their current flagship and it'll still create confusion if they'll name the Note 7 as Note 6 instead.

What to expect?

Based on Samsung's global invitation, the Galaxy Note 7 is said to be a "instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones" which have added functionalities of the S pen and a larger screen.

Having said that, the upcoming phablet of Samsung is expected to increase its screen size to at least 6 inch big, Snapdragon 820 or 821, 6 GB RAM, and most of the latest innovations in the world of smartphones today.

There are also rumors that it might follow the lead of S7 and S7 Edge by having water and dust resistances.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 7 simultaneously at Rio de Janeiro and London, then New York's event will have a live stream feed at www.samsung.com and news.samsung.com/global.
