Unboxing / Accessories

You should take care of your charger, as it maybe hard to find |
Unfortunately, we were able to unbox this device and I lost the photo of the box I took at Huawei's office. Anyway, the package contains the watch itself, some paper manuals and the 4 pin magnetic rounded charger.
Build Quality / Design
|
View at the back of the watch |
In terms of build quality, Huawei ensured that this device is made out premium and solid materials. The rounded rim features a brushed solid steel, the rounded plastic back is comfortable and tough looking and the watch strap is made out of soft and flexible TPU rubber with several resistances to ensure that it will last. There's also a semi curved glass on top that appears to have some type of coating for scratch resistance.

The TPU rubber wrist band |
Huawei's design mastery is on point again here. They gave the Huawei Band B0 a rounded watch type of look that's rare to find especially at this price point. Another point that I really like here is its slimness, so far this is the slimmest looking fitness watch that I encountered in our country. Aside from that the crisscrossed TPU rubber band which looks very stylish that doesn't irritate the skin. It's also pretty lightweight at 24 grams that made it comfortable to use.
My only gripe in its design and build is I noticed some light hairline scratches on the metal rim part that's normal for devices with this type of materials.
Display Quality
In terms of display, it's using a 1.06 inch PMOLED screen with 128 x 128 resolution. Huawei impressive made a hard to notice illusion on its square panel to make it look like a full rounded screen. During my time with it, it is responsive as long as you have dry hands for navigation purposes. You'll just experience rare occasions where it won't be that responsive. In terms of brightness, it's bright enough for indoor use, but won't be that readable under direct sunlight.
So far even with its known weaknesses, the display used by Huawei here is still better compared with most sub 4K Pesos smartwatches / fitness bands I tried.
Battery
|
Look when charging |
One of the common problems of other smartwatches and fitness bands is battery life. Often, they'll will only last for a day or two. That's where this deviced excelled, its 70 mAh battery was able to last for 4 days on a single charge under my casual usage synced via Bluetooth. They also claimed that it has a standby time of 14 days which is impressively long. Charging time is also quite fast at less than 2 hours.
So here it goes: Less than 2 hours of charging = up to 4 days of battery life / up to 14 days standby time.
That's even better compared with the pricier Samsung Gear S2 in terms of battery efficiency.
Performance
The Huawei Band B0 is using a M4 STM32F411 processor without an Android OS. Nonetheless, the performance was decent and smooth overall in my opinion. It can accurately track my workout, sleep, calories burned and steps taken. Aside from that it will remind you to stand up when you're sitting for more than and hour by vibrating / waving person animation.
|
It's easy to connect and sync with the Huawei Wear app You can also track your fitness, set goals and notifications like the alarm here |
I also liked that the interface is very easy to use which is loaded with some nice features like changing of watch faces depending on your preference and set an alarm when its time to wake up. There's also a flip your wrist to wake function that's really cool. This device is also IP68 rated making it water and dust resistant for your peace of mind.

Here's where you can record your workout (track the time, steps taken and calories burned) |

My calories burned |

And my lack of decent sleep |

Notifications |
You may also enable "Push Notifications" using Huawei wear app. After that it will alert you if you have messages and show a portion of it.
However, there are several missing features here like the heart rate sensor, call function, play music and read full messages. That's probably the trade-off on making this device extra affordable.
Anyway, the important thing here is it works like a normal watch with fitness functions and alarms. Still very impressive.
Update: This device also notifies you when you complete the fitness goal you set with fireworks and congratulations animations.
Pros - Beautiful slim rounded design, good build, IP68 rating, fitness options, different watch faces, long battery life and affordability
Cons - Not scratch resistant, pretty limited functions, hard to read under direct sunlight
Verdict
There's no need to spend a lot of cash to get a good fitness band today. At just 2990 Pesos, the Huawei Band B0 is there as your affordable high caliber and stylish fitness band / smartwatch to help you achieve your health goals. A must buy on a tight budget.
